  1. Be reasonable about how much you can undertake
  2. Identify when concentrating on others is permitting you to escape concentrating on yourself
  3. Be truthful with yourself and others about your needs
  4. Create a caretaker agreement with yourself and have a friend, family member, or therapist keep you accountable
  5. Assess your family and friends and be aware of emotional manipulation
  6. Determine how to draw limits
  7. Start saying ‘yes’ when someone offers to assist or ask others for assistance
  8. Purposefully reserve time for yourself
