Compassionate Hospice
Hospice care is palliative in nature, meaning that hospice care does not seek to cure a patient. Palliative care focuses on physically and mentally comforting patients, adding life to their final days, and providing patients, their caregivers, and their families with a support system and care plan.
When you choose Crown Hospice Cape Girardeau and Poplar Bluff to be your loved one’s hospice, you can be sure they will receive the best medical, spiritual, and emotional care possible.
Caring For Our Patients
We believe that patients are more comfortable when they interact with care team members they know and trust. Each patient – whether they are receiving care in Cape Girardeau or Poplar Bluff – is assigned a care team when they enter into our hospice program. Our care teams are responsible for providing patients with care for the entirety of their time with us.
Hospice Aides
Every Crown care team is staffed with two trained aides who help provide homemaker services, assist in activities of daily living, and offer minor medical support.
Chaplains
Chaplains are available to provide spiritual support to families, caregivers and patients.
Volunteers
Our volunteers provide companionship and may assist caregivers in completing basic tasks like folding laundry and picking up groceries.

Our Hospice Services
We have developed our hospice care services to directly benefit our patients, their loved ones, and those who are responsible for their care. We offer the following services at both Crown Hospice locations in Missouri:

Nursing Services
Crown Hospice RN’s are responsible for accessing a patient’s symptoms and creating a care plan tailored to their needs. They provide hospice care at home and support the patient by leading the care team that in turn assists the patient.

Physician Services
Your loved one may choose to either receive medical care from our physicians, or to remain in the care of their current physician. We also provide coordinated care, which allows our specialists to work with your loved one’s primary physician to ensure their care plan is as comprehensive as it can be.

Palliative Care
Pain management is a necessity of comfort care and is often misunderstood. Many people believe that pain management will cause a hospice patient to decline more rapidly. This is untrue. When we provide palliative medicine, our goal is to ensure that our patients are comfortable. When pain is managed, patients can focus on spending quality time with their families.

Personal Care & Homemakers Services
Our dedicated aides are a crucial part of home hospice. They assist patients in completing activities of daily living like bathing or showering, dressing, and brushing teeth and hair. They also offer assistance with basic housework tasks to ensure that a patient’s living space is comfortable and clean.

Spiritual Support
Crown Hospice is committed to our faith, and we are proud to offer spiritual support services to our patients. Our chaplains are available to come and pray with patients, families and caregivers.
While we are a faith-based hospice, we are also inclusive. We will not force our beliefs or prayer on patients and we respect all belief systems, no matter how different they may be from our own.

Emotional Support
At Crown Hospice Cape Girardeau and Poplar Bluff, we understand that the final stage of life is emotional for everyone involved, so we offer grief counseling to our patients and their loved ones. Our trained social workers and bereavement coordinators are here to help you process, mourn, and heal. We offer bereavement services for up to 13 months following the death of a loved one, and our support groups are open to the community.
