Registered Nurses
Our registered nurses (RNs) lead our care teams and provide care to every patient. Our hospice nurses regularly visit clients, check up on their symptoms and needs, and modify their care plans to accommodate them.
Hospice care is palliative in nature, meaning that hospice care does not seek to cure a patient but rather make them as comfortable and pain-free as possible. Palliative care focuses on physically and mentally comforting patients, adding life to their final days, and providing patients, their caregivers, and their families with a support system and care plan.
When you choose Crown Hospice Cape Girardeau and Poplar Bluff to be your loved one’s hospice provider, you can be sure they will receive the best medical, spiritual, and emotional end of life care possible.
We believe that patients are more comfortable when they interact with care team members they know and trust. Each patient is assigned a care team when they enter into our hospice program. Our care teams are responsible for providing patients with palliative care services for the entirety of their time with us.

Our RNs are considered the ‘team leads’ here at Crown. They are responsible for assessing a patient’s symptoms and creating a palliative care program based on those symptoms. They provide both hospice care at home and in our facilities, and are a vital part of our operation and the comfort of our patients.
Your loved one may choose to either receive medical care from our physicians, or to remain in the care of their current physician. We also provide coordinated care, which allows our specialists to work with your loved one’s primary physician to ensure their care plan is as comprehensive as it can be.
What is palliative care? Palliative care is a medical approach that focuses on pain management is a necessity of comfort care and is often misunderstood. Many people believe that pain management will cause a hospice patient to decline more rapidly. This is not true. When we provide palliative medicine, our goal is to ensure that our patients are comfortable. When pain is managed, patients can focus on spending quality time with their families.
Our dedicated aides are a crucial part of home hospice. They assist patients in completing activities of daily living like bathing or showering, dressing, and brushing teeth and hair. They also offer assistance with basic housework tasks to ensure that a patient’s living space is comfortable and clean.
